The groundhog may call for six more weeks of winter, and the snowfall may back him up, but at SIP we keep our eyes on the light ahead. With focus, connection and intention, we continue to move forward because steady impact builds lasting impact.
In this vein, I’d like to share some exciting progress toward expanding education and employment opportunities across our state.
In Early Childhood Education (ECE), we’re helping implement Connecticut’s nation-leading child care legislation by working with the state Office of Early Childhood, the statewide ECE advocacy coalition, Child Care for CT, and local ECE providers across the state. Our Volunteer Partners will be supporting a new growth accelerator program that will help providers create more affordable childcare spots for young children – learn more about this opportunity in the content below!
In Workforce Development, we’re partnering with educators, employers and nonprofits to expand access to good jobs and prepare learners and workers for them. This year, we’re working to expand career pathway programs for high school and college students and developing innovative “earn and learn” programs with healthcare employers that support employee upskilling to fill high-demand jobs while boosting employees’ economic mobility.
We recognize that the key to making progress in each of these areas is increasing collaboration among key stakeholders. No single organization can meet these challenges alone. Progress comes from shared commitment, coordinated action and a strong sense of community. Together, we are building the grounding and momentum needed to move forward with purpose.
Much of this progress is powered by the behind-the-scenes work of our dedicated staff and Partners. The often-unseen efforts create the scaffolding for tangible impact and the results our communities and state rely on. Equally important are the relationships we build along the way. Real progress happens not just through emails, but through conversations — taking time to listen, connect and align around shared goals. These interactions build trust, deepen understanding and fuel momentum.
At SIP, our commitment is woven into everything we do and grounded in our mission: to expand pathways to living-wage jobs and economic mobility for all by collaborating with partners across Connecticut to advance equitable education and workforce systems and practices. The keyword is collaboration, because nothing lasting is built alone.
Guided by our values — equity, humility, collaboration, optimism and impact — we show up with purpose and work alongside our partners, knowing this work is bigger than any one of us.
Through shared effort, we create opportunity, build momentum and imagine a future that is brighter, more equitable and full of possibility. Thank you for your continued support and for being part of the community that makes this impact possible.
