We’re thrilled to officially welcome Jesse, Reilly, and Ben to our Career Pathways team, and Dan to our ECE team. In a very short time, they’ve already made a noticeable impact and are adding real momentum to the work across SIP and the state.
In workforce development and career pathways, something BIG is happening in Connecticut—and we’re right at the center of it. As the backbone organization supporting Governor Lamont’s newly established Connecticut Career Pathways Commission, chaired by Miguel Cardona, we’re convening more than three dozen leaders across education, business, labor, government, and workforce development to build a truly unified statewide system. Together, we’re aligning education and workforce systems, strengthening connections between training and employment, and creating clearer pathways that help more Connecticut residents access high-quality education, skills training, and meaningful careers.
In the early childhood education space, we’ve had our hands full – in the best way! Every day, we’re working to connect what’s happening in communities across Connecticut with the policies and priorities shaping the state’s future, all in service of better outcomes for children, families, providers, and communities.

Meet our Volunteer Partner, Adam Kurzer, and hear about his journey as a Lead Partner at Riverfront Children’s Center. Discover what drives him and why he chose SIP as the perfect next chapter after retirement.

We are delighted to have Maureen Wright join our team at such a transformational time for early childhood in Connecticut. Get to know Maureen better by reading her full Q&A, where she shares her path to SIP, what keeps her grounded and why this work matters to her.
The groundhog may call for six more weeks of winter, and the snowfall may back him up, but at SIP we keep our eyes on the light ahead. With focus, connection and intention, we continue to move forward because steady effort is what builds lasting impact.

This is a defining moment for early childhood education in Connecticut — and we believe the way forward is together.
We are proud to launch the Early Childhood Education Growth Accelerator in partnership with Maritime Odyssey Preschool, a nationally recognized ECE model based in Norwalk. Because when mission-driven leaders come together with the right tools, the right space and the right support, real transformation happens. Minds together truly do more than minds apart.

Early childhood education is not simply childcare — it is one of the strongest predictors of lifelong outcomes. More than 90% of a child’s brain develops before age five, shaping their readiness for school, their belief in their own potential and the stability felt by their families.
Research shows that children who are ready for kindergarten are far more likely to thrive in life. At Maritime Odyssey Preschool, these truths guide every decision

I had the distinct honor of visiting the Flint Street location of Friends Center for Children (Friends Center), where I arrived as a stranger and left feeling like a true “Friend.” I expected to see toddlers smiling and running around, but what I witnessed was far more profound: minds growing, learning and discovering the world for the first time.
