Early childhood Education Growth Accelerator

What Is the ECE Growth Accelerator?

The ECE Growth Accelerator is a leadership experience designed for early childhood leaders working to strengthen their organizations and help shape the future of early childhood care and education in Connecticut.

This unique cohort brings together leaders from across the state — from single-site child care centers to larger, multi-service organizations serving hundreds of children and families.

Through hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and practical tools, participants gain the support and resources they need to grow.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ECE LEADERS COME TOGETHER WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS, SUPPORT AND COMMUNITY?

Hear from Accelerator participants Monica Maccera Filppu and Karen Lott about the impact of their experiences.

Why Was It Created?

The early childhood sector is changing quickly — and leaders are being asked to navigate more than ever before. New investments, shifting policies, workforce challenges, and growing community needs are creating exciting opportunities while also bringing new pressures.

Every day, ECE leaders make critical decisions about their programs, teams, finances, and future direction — often while balancing the immediate needs of children, families, and staff.

Developed in partnership with Dr. Monisha Gibson and Johnathan Gibson, co-founders of Maritime Odyssey Preschool, a nationally recognized model for high-quality, STEAM-based learning and innovative community partnerships, the ECE Growth Accelerator was built to meet these challenges head-on and support ECE leaders in strengthening and growing their organizations.

It provides leaders with dedicated time, practical tools, and a supportive community of peers who understand the challenges and opportunities of leading an early childhood organization today. Through this cohort experience, participants learn from one another, explore new approaches, strengthen their organizations, and leave with strategies they can put into action.
