Alison retired as Chief Human Resources Officer at BIC in 2020, after a successful career at market-leading enterprises nationwide. With newfound time and resources, she was ready to use her skills and expertise in HR, organizational development and talent management for a greater purpose. Thankfully, this led her to join Social Impact Partners as a volunteer partner in 2021.
“I have traveled across the globe leading diverse teams across six continents so I never had the opportunity to be an active changemaker in my local community or build a network. [Social Impact Partners] has allowed me to see where I can have an impact in my state as well as build lasting friendships with passionate and smart people, most of whom I would have otherwise never met,” said Alison.
While retired from her for-profit career at BIC, she continues her work with BIC today as the Executive Director of the BIC Corporate Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports nonprofit organizations providing educational initiatives across the world. The foundation has impacted more than 200,000 young people across 20 countries by delivering educational programs focused on developing creative skills since its founding in 2016.
Since joining Social Impact Partners, Alison has been deeply involved in project work for Building One Community and Achieve Hartford, playing an instrumental role in strategic vision planning, organizational design and leadership coaching. She shared, “Throughout the process, I always had a very clear understanding of our succinct body of work, which made me feel incredibly engaged and connected with the value we were bringing and appreciative of the work these organizations are doing.” She spoke about the unique role that Social Impact Partners plays in navigating across community partners and “providing volunteer partners with unique opportunities that utilize their specific skills, interests and passions.”
When she is not doing HR consulting work for purpose-driven organizations, leading the BIC Corporate Foundation or volunteering with Social Impact Partners, this British American horse-riding enthusiast can be found at her local barn, competing with her beautiful Belgian Warmblood horse, Jimmy Choo. We are grateful to have Alison as a volunteer partner and to see her impactful skills in action!
